57 Hotel,
Sydney, Australia
Double Room 512 at the 57 Hotel is tiny and nothing but the basics. The room is located behind the lifts and faces a service alley. There are no windows that can be opened. The only window is in the bathroom with a view of a wall and alley below. This however is not the main problem with Room 512 - its the symphony of noise. The air conditioning constantly makes a sound like air is being sucked through it, even when turned off, in the early morning there is waste pipe noise every time the surrounding rooms flush, and then there's the clanging of bins and rubbish removal from the alley below. All of this makes the room unbearable. We'd recommend only accepting this room if you plan on being out, and not getting much sleep anyway. It's easy to see why it is one of the cheapest rooms available in the surrounding area.
