Researching our recent trip to Central America we discovered 2 Panama overwater bungalow resorts. Check out Central America’s most exclusive and secluded villas to tempt you on your next vacation.

Overwater bungalow resorts can be found all over the world. The most popular and well known resorts are located in the Maldives, Laccadive Sea of Sri Lanka, Asia and Bora Bora in French Polynesia and Oceana. All are super luxurious, but they also have daily rates to match.

If you are looking for something different and slightly cheaper, you should consider the Central Americas. There are a couple of overwater bungalow resorts to choose from in Panama. Both of the resorts are so secluded it’s an adventure just to get there. But that’s half the fun. Here are the two eco-resorts we found. Both are located in Boccas Del Toro.

We know Panama isn't the first place you think of, for over water bungalows. But Eclypse De Mar Aqua Lodge set amongst the lush rainforest in the archipelago of Bocas Del Toro, has seven. All, are traditional thatch roof villas built over the water with locally sourced wood and natural materials. Each bungalow features a private deck, perfect for diving into the sea or relaxing while watching the most unique and romantic sunsets over the Caribbean paradise. Punta Caracol Aqua Lodge, Boccas Del Toro, Panama

Built over the Caribbean Sea, along a mile long coral reefed coast, Punta Caracol is constructed using the traditional methods of the Archipelago. Each overwater bungalow is beautifully crafted and built upon stilts which support a wooden frame and covered by a palm leaf roof. This design in in-keeping with the native communities of the region.
